FALL RESTRAINT & FALL ARREST

Where collective measures (e.g. guardrails) are impractical, Fall Restraint systems are the next option to prevent falls from height.  Fall Restraint systems have the same aim as Fall Guarding systems, whereby operatives are physically prevented from encountering Fall Hazard Areas.  Instead of providing a hard barrier to protect against falls, operatives are restrained from approaching live edges by use of anchors, lanyards and harnesses.

In some work locations it is impossible to eliminate the risk of a fall.  In such cases Fall Arrest becomes the last line of defence against fall-related injury.  Fall Arrest systems are designed to safely stop an operative from sustaining injury when a fall has already occurred.
